kripalu means compassion! kripalu yoga is named for swami kripalu. it is a meditative practice that emphasizes embodying the qualities of compassion and acceptance, practicing nonjudgmental self-inquiry and self-acceptance, as well as taking your yoga practice off your mat and into your daily life.

students are encouraged to practice at their own pace, listening to and honor their body's innate wisdom and following the flow of prana(life force energy) in the body.

intermediate kripalu yoga will challenge you on your own terms. this class assumes you know the basics and have body awareness. we will work with more varied and challenging postures and vinyasa (flow of postures moving with breath), as well as longer meditative holdings of postures, while still offering lots of options and modifications and plenty of space for each student to move at their own pace.

you'll take from this class a release of deeply held tension, an increase in strength, balance and flexibility in your body, more focus and clarity of mind, a deeper sense of compassion, self-awareness and self-acceptance.

marie marchand

RYT-500, director of sangha yoga collective

Marie came to yoga 18 years ago, seeking relief from stress and anxiety.  In the practice of Kripalu yoga , she was delighted to find a holistic practice that encompassed the mind, body and spirit. She is certified at the 500 hr. level in the Kripalu tradition and has been teaching in the Lowell  area for 10 years and has offered yoga retreats in Italy.  She is deeply inspired by the rhythms and wisdom of the natural world, music, poetry and Tibetan Buddhism. All of these find their way into her teaching.  She teaches  with the intention of guiding students to dive deep, unfold, awaken, heal and blossom.  In 2012 she opened sangha yoga collective.
